I’ve been watching a lot of hooping videos for beginner tips and this is BY FAR THE BEST ONE. It makes me feel like I can actually learn and improve. Other videos show people with perfect form who never drop their hoop. I find those videos really intimidating and discouraging. If I’m having a hard time, I’ll watch this video and feel better knowing that even expert hoopers drop their hoops sometimes!!
I really want a professionally made hoop. This is the one I want. So after I have been hooping everyday for 3 weeks, I’m going to buy it! They say it takes 3 weeks to make a new activity a habit and I want to improve a bit before I spend money on a new hoop.
I’m probably going to babble about hooping a LOT this summer. Just to warn you. I tend to hyper focus on things when I first get into them. :-P

I just bought ANOTHER sketchbook. I hope this one is THE ONE. I found out that Moleskine makes BIG sketchbooks! Who knew? Not me. I bought one. A4 size, 8.5 x 12. I hope I will like it.
My favorite sketchbook of all time is out of print (Running Rhino Sketch Journal) and I’ve been trying to find a suitable replacement. Nothing will ever be as good as my beloved Rhino Sketch Journal. I drew in them for TEN YEARS. The paper took anything and everything I threw at it and it always came out fantastic. Ink and markers especially. I think I actually cried a tear when I got the confirmation from Running Rhino that I wouldn’t ever be able to get my hands on this sketchbook ever again.
Le sigh!
I know this sounds weird (or maybe it doesn’t?), but half of my inspiration for making art is loving the materials I’m working with. I used to draw ALL THE TIME. Then I couldn’t find my sketchbook anymore. I feel like part of the reason I don’t draw so much anymore is that I haven’t been able to find a new sketchbook that I love.
But life goes on I suppose. I will try the Moleskine and if it still doesn’t do it for me I will keep looking! If all else fails, I will find a paper I like and make my own.
THIS. This is what I needed all along. I bought this little sketch book three days ago and I’ve drawn in it everyday since. Drawing three days in a row might not sound like a monumental achievement, but it is for me.
